Concerto de’ Cavalieri
Hailed as ‘one of Italy’s most vibrant and exciting groups dedicated to period-instrument performance of 18th century music’ (Fanfare Magazine), Concerto de’ Cavalieri was founded by Marcello Di Lisa and regularly performs at some of the most prestigious international venues such as Musikverein in Vienna, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Arsenal in Metz, Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, Musikfest Bremen, Festival d’Ambronay, Festival de Radio France among others, collaborating with soloists, such as Daniela Barcellona, Vivica Genaux, Vesselina Kasarova, Ann Hallenberg, Kristina Hammarström, Ana Quintans, Maurice Steger.
Intensely involved in the rediscovery of forgotten works, Concerto de’ Cavalieri premiered Alessandro Scarlatti’s Serenata Erminia, Nicola Porpora’s Serenata La Iole and the Vivaldi Opera Tito Manlio (1720 Rome version).
Concerto de’ Cavalieri also enjoys a busy recording activity for Sony. In particular, since 2011 the orchestra has started The Baroque Project, a long-standing recording project with Sony Classical on Italian Opera in the 18th century, that has arrived to its fifth volume. The first four CDs in this series were respectively dedicated to the opera arias and instrumental music by Alessandro Scarlatti, Pergolesi, Vivaldi and Albinoni, including many world premieres and all receiving critical acclaim. In particular, the Scarlatti and Albinoni CDs with mezzosoprano Daniela Barcellona and soprano Ana Quintans premiered many opera arias and have been International Classical Music Awards nominated. The latest CD (2017) features Alessandro Scarlatti’s rare Opera Overtures and Concertos in seven parts, and includes four world premiere recordings.
