As member of the Boreal Choir School, Olivier partipated from his youngest age as choir singer and soloist in many operas, conducted by Jean-Claude Malgoire.
At 17, he decided to create a professional choir with the aim of exploring early music repertory. These researches aroused his interest in the harpsichord which he first studied with Elisabeth Joyé, and then under the guidance of Pierre Hantaï since 2003.
This is when his choir became the professional vocal and instrumental ensemble Alia Mens, and focused more specifically on baroque music. Olivier Spilmont has performed as soloist on national and international stages with Pierre Hantaï, Maud Gratton and the French Concert (Bozar of Brussels, Opera de Lille, Teatro di Vicenza), while performing on both the national and international scene with Alia Mens (Opera de Lille, Théâtre d’Arras, Salle Bourgies de Montréal, Festival d’Ambronnay, etc…).
