Lisa is truly an international soprano. Born in Nigeria to Japanese and Dutch parents, she was brought up in Indonesia and Kenya.
Settling in the United Kingdom, Lisa obtained an Advanced Postgraduate in Voice, graduating with Distinction from Trinity Laban; her teacher was Linda Hirst (Head of the Vocal Faculty). Lisa is currently under the tutelage of Gary Coward.
As a finalist of the 2009 Handel Singing Competition, Lisa developed her profound affinity with the music of Handel and his contemporaries. As a result she has been involved in numerous concerts and masterclasses throughout Britain.
In 2012 she began her first association with Orquestra Camerata Sesi Brazil, when she was invited to perform Britten’s Les Illuminations.
Lisa made her concert début in Denmark in 2014 as the soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana and Mahler’s Symphony no. 4 with the Randers Orchestra. Other concert engagements have included the world premiere of ‘My Kingdom’ by Deirdre Gribbin; Handel’s Messiah and Belshazzar, Bach’s Magnificat, Mozart’s Requiem, and the Fauré Requiem.
Lisa has frequently collaborated with the Firebird Orchestra, having performed in venues such as the King’s Place and the Bath Pump Room. In 2016 Lisa was the soloist in concerts with the Westlands Mannenkoor in the Netherlands.
On the operatic stage her invitations have included Glyndebourne Festival Opera in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro; Opera Project in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin; and Jephte by Carissimi with English Touring Opera.
Lisa has also studied Medical Biochemistry at King’s College London, and holds an MSc. in Biomedical Research from Imperial College.
Future engagements include concerts of French Baroque Music with the International Rameau Ensemble directed by James Halliday; and a tour of Handel recitals in Japan.
