Marcello Di Lisa (1978) completed in 2004 his PhD in Philology and Greek and Latin Literature at the University of Pisa. After studying harpsichord and composition, with a special interest in musical philology, at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa he founded Concerto de’Cavalieri that, under his direction, has come to be recognised as one of the most interesting period instrument orchestras.
Marcello Di Lisa has appeared in some of the major international concert seasons, such as Musikverein in Vienna, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Arsenal in Metz, Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, Musikfest Bremen, Festival d’Ambronay, Festival de Radio France among others, and collaborated with soloists, such as Daniela Barcellona, Vivica Genaux, Vesselina Kasarova, Ann Hallenberg, Kristina Hammarström, Ana Quintans, Maurice Steger.
He has planned and carried out numerous recordings for Sony to critical acclaim, including two International Music Awards nominations. In the field of musicological research, he is engaged in rediscovery of the 17th and 18th century Roman musical heritage, with particular attention to the unpublished works of Alessandro Scarlatti.
